Friday, January 13th Black Kat Comedy Night & CATS the Musical at Civic Theatre

Reminisce about the best and worst moments of 2011 with a hilarious comedy night at Desi’s Bar and Grill in Point Loma. The funny sketch comedy show will have you rolling on the floor laughing! Performed by an independent theatre company called Black Kat Theatre, their entertaining skits will bring the best and worst moments back to life in funny scenarios and reenactments. Have the last laugh at 2011 and support the coolest local comedy theatre of San Diego. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. with $12 admission.

Catch the longest continuing Broadway musical in history! CATS is coming to town at the San Diego Civic Theatre this weekend for the 30th anniversary of the musical’s national tour. CATS is based off of a famous book by T.S. Eliot called Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Watch tons of cats prance across the stage this Friday for an unforgettable performance. Whether you love cats or not, embark on a feline-filled evening starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online through the Civic Theatre.

Saturday, January 14th “The Elephant Man” at Onstage Playhouse & Reggae Night at Spin City Lounge in Chula Vista

The Elephant Man is a powerful play based on the life of a horribly deformed gentleman—be one of the first to see the performance of a young man who transforms from an object of pity to an important person as the aristocracy and prestigious favorite amongst literati. The Elephant Man starts its opening week at Chula Vista’s Onstage Playhouse with an 8 p.m. show this Saturday. Get inspired by this award-winning masterpiece directed by Steve Murdock and enjoy this inspirational storyline.

If you’re in the mood for some mellow, feel-good music, catch the live reggae performance at Spin City Lounge in Chula Vista. M.C. Majesty and Selecta Vex from the Lovers Bash Sound will perform with Kingston 13 Band and other special guest artists. The clothing company One Aim Clothing will be giving away some free merchandise throughout the night for an extra special reggae concert! And if you get a little hungry, the SD Food Farm and Thai 1 on Eats food trucks will be parked outside to offer great eats and tasty snacks. Come before 10 p.m. and get in for free! The party starts at 9 p.m. with the best live roots entertainment for San Diego’s Saturday reggae night at Spin City Lounge.
