FRIDAY, March 2nd Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration and Friday Night Liberty Event

Join the festivities and honor the late creator of many childhood classics such as the Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. The annual Dr. Seuss birthday celebration is taking place this Friday at the University of California, San Diego campus. UCSD’s lovable icon, Theodor Seuss Geisel also known as Dr. Seuss, would have been 108 this year and the campus wants to make his party extra special. Starting at 11:50 a.m., a giant inflatable Cat in the Hat will mark the party destination at the foot of Geisel Library’s Liberty Walk. Free punch and cake will be served and entertainment provided by The Teeny Tiny Pit Orchestra will guarantee Dr. Seuss has a fantastic birthday remembrance. Original works of Dr. Seuss such as original drawings, photos, and memorabilia will be on display at the UC San Diego Mandeville Special Collections Library until March 9.

It’s Friday night at NTC Promenade Art & Culture District in Point Loma’s Liberty Station which means lots of art, dance, and culture to chalk up your Friday night with fun and entertainment. The free event called Friday Night Liberty hosts open artist studios, walk-through galleries, and live performances. This week, featured exhibits include “Make Your Mark” community painting project and Dance Place’s “Terpsichore: Icons of Dance” exhibit along with Jean Isaacs San Diego Dance Theater performances. Experience the freedom to explore the different art cultures right in the heart of San Diego from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
