There are lots of fun things to do all over San Diego. Get in the know and start having some fun at the cool beaches and hot attractions in San Diego. Celebrate the 40th year of the San Diego Zoo or check out Ocean Beach’s summer beach ball. Here’s a few events you can get into this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 18 – 20:

Friday, May 18th 40th Anniversary for the San Diego Zoo & OB’s Beach Ball

The remarkable zoo in San Diego is celebrating its 40th birthday this weekend. On May 18th, embark on the San Diego Zoo adventures including an endangered species scavenger hunt. The San Diego Zoo has been extremely involved in saving species from the brink of extinction. This celebration will showcase these endangered friends such as the African elephant, Arabian oryx, and cheetahs with a special Africa Tram tour. Get your tickets today and become a part of the San Diego Zoo family!

Get down to the beach for an all-out fabulous beach festival and outdoor music concert in Ocean Beach! The annual OB Beach Ball will feature many main attractions from noon to 10 p.m. including a mechanical bull, night volleyball, live music, a micro-brew festival, giant water slide, and a 60-foot Ferris wheel.  You’ll be able to get in on the fun when you stop by the Ocean Beach Pier this Friday for the free Beach Ball event!

Saturday, May 19th Dashburger Festival in PB & Cirque Wings at Balboa Theatre

This is a festival like none other. The DashBurger Festival in San Diego’s Pacific Beach will have the best deliverable cheeseburgers in town! In the Aussie Pub parking lot from noon to 10 p.m., the free DashBurger Festival will feature many local vendors, live music, a beer truck, and a special DashBurger eating contest with prizes and cash winners! Are you ready to explore history through the theatrical production of Cirque Wings? Watch the passion and fascination pertaining to flight as it progressed from ancient times to modern forms. Follow Cirque Wings through the outstanding performances of trapeze, aerial dance, fabric flying, contortion, acrobatics, and dance. Get your tickets today for Cirque Wings at the Downtown San Diego Balboa Theatre for the Saturday show times of 2 and 6 p.m. You’ll just love the high-action intensity of Cirque Wings flying show!

Sunday, May 20th Little Italy’s Sicilian Festa & Joshua Tree Music Festival

Get in touch with your Italian side at the annual Sicilian Festa in Little Italy. Be immersed in the loving culture of Sicily at their free admission festival this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You’ll enjoy entertainment on 4 different stages, the Bellissimo Car Show, a grape stomp, Peroni Beer & Wine tent, and a cultural pavilion featuring art, history and heritage. Fall in love with San Diego’s Italian part of town with a twist of European essence in the air at the only San Diego Sicilian Festa.

The 10th annual Joshua Tree Music Festival is expected to hit San Diego this weekend featuring many great musicians like Khaira Arby, MC Rai, Morning Teleportation, The Collective, Wolf Thump, and many more. Friday, May 11th Gator by the Bay and Channel 933’s Summer Kick-Off

Is it Mardi Gras again? Well, not quite! The annual zydeco and Cajun festival is taking place in the Spanish Landing Park on Harbor Drive. You’ll get a real treat at this special Gator by the Bay with authentic Creole cuisine, dance lessons, New Orleans parades and lots of great musical performances. Gator by the Bay will be serving 8,000 pounds of crawfish right from Louisiana. Expect good old Cajun fun at Gator by the Bay from 3:30 to 10:30 p.m.

San Diego’s local radio station, Channel 933, is hosting its own summer kick off on Friday night. Starting at 6 p.m., you can see your favorite music artists perform live at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista. Maroon 5, Flo Rida, Gym Class Heroes, Wiz Khalifa, and many more will rock 933’s Summer Kick Off so get your tickets today!

Saturday, May 12th Mother’s Day Concert and Westgate Hotel’s Mother Daughter Tea Time

In a traditional San Diego Mother’s Day event, Balboa Park’s Spreckels Organ Pavilion will host a fantastic Mother’s Day concert. Carol Williams, a civic organist, will provide entertainment at the concert. The concert is free to attend, however, there is a great Mother’s Day brunch before the concert beginning at 10 a.m. at the Prado Restaurant “Casa del Rey Moro” Garden. Tickets for brunch are $45. Treat mom to a brunch and concert special this Saturday at Spreckels Organ Pavilion!
